Greetings veggie fans!

It’s that time! We are thrilled to kick off our 2024 season together and open up registration to the public. Register today!

BONUS!  With sign up and payment received by March 15 for your share, you will receive a FREE insulated Sang Lee CSA bag!  We expect shares to fill up fast, so please sign up soon if you intend to buy a share this year. Details are below.

You’ll see that pricing for shares has increased from last year to this year, about $1 per week; Sang Lee Farms has shared that this is the result of the increased cost of materials, fuel, and labor this year. In their words, “five neighboring farms have moved, closed, retired and closed,  in the last year due to the extreme difficulties of farming on Long Island and being able to charge what it costs to grow / buy land here when their leases were up. We are grateful to be able to do what we do, and be one of the last farms standing that is diversified, organic and able to continue to grow so we aren’t reliant on leased land as much as possible (which is an insecure land strategy for the long term). We keep trying to be more and more resilient and as a 3rd gen farm, we have the history on our side and with our CSA members’ loyalty, we can plan for an even more resilient future.” We hope to have you aboard as a member in 2024!

Vegetables:
Vegetables come from our fantastic farmer Fred Lee at Sang Lee Farms, a certified organic specialty vegetable farm in Peconic on the North Fork of Long Island.  For 2024, each veggie share is expected to be 8-10 items that week and this year the season is 24 weeks.  You can sign up for a full share (pick up every week) or a half share (pick up every other week).  Sample share listings for the 2023 Season can be found here

Remember: members get 10% off all purchases at the farm and online as a CSA member.

Payment/Pricing:

You can become a member by signing up for a Full or Half Veggie Share.

The pricing listed on the sign up form includes a $19 administration fee, and a commitment to volunteer (covering two shifts over the course of the season).

**If you’re interested in discussing a payment plan or other options, please reach out to brooklynbridgecsa@gmail.com. We know all food is getting more expensive and want to do everything we can to maintain access to this CSA program.**

As in past years, we are offering three tiers of pricing:
– Standard pricing to cover the basic costs of the product and CSA administration
– Reduced pricing for those who need it.
– Sponsor shares for those that are able to donate a bit extra – please consider it! Sponsor shares subsidize reduced-price shares and enable low-income individuals and families to be part of our CSA.

Fruit
Fred has partnered again with Briermere Farms to bring us this add-on to our CSA offerings. Fruit is conventionally grown, while utilizing many organic practices and composting.

Quantity: 3lb bag tree fruit or 1 pint berries per week (If you are interested in 2 fruit shares, please contact us.)

If fruit comes in early or all at once, Briermere may choose to give it out earlier. This would mean more fruit in the early shares and less fruit in later shares. The number of weeks may also be less in this case.   Please read through the share contents CAREFULLY so you understand what fruit CAN grow on Long Island and that week to week you will be getting similar things depending on the time of year. If you do not LOVE apples, we suggest you do not participate in the share as the last month or two is primarily filled with apples.
Note: if you select to include fruit, full vegetable shares must pick full fruit shares. Half vegetable shares must choose half fruit shares.

Granola
Fort Greene Granola is a superfood granola that’s vegan and features organic ingredients from local family farms including fresh-rolled oats, nutrient-rich pumpkin seeds, and wood-fired Vermont maple syrup.

When you sign up for your veggie share, you will pick a full or half share (depending on the veggie share you choose) in one size and one flavor for the season.

Three size options:

  • Small Share: 4 Oz. Bag
  • Regular Share: 8 Oz Bag
  • Large Share: 1 LB Bag

Two Flavor Options:

  • Original: a more traditional granola (with locally-sourced oats, pumpkin seeds & maple syrup, of course!). This is the flavor I offered members last year
  • Spiced: Lots of dried fruits and spices and healthy nuts and seeds. It’s been a huge hit at the Ft. Greene market and I’m offering it as a CSA share in 2024.

Note: if you select to include granola, full vegetable shares must pick full granola shares. Half vegetable shares must choose half granola shares.
