Farmer Fred’s Note of the Week
If I had to pinpoint a time in the season that there is the most variety of bountiful produce, it would be right now. While we are a month or so shy of the fall bounty, the sweet taste of summer should be making it’s way into your homes in the form of juicy melons, ripe and flavorful melons, and sweet crunchy bell peppers this week! Mother nature must be on our side this year because the basil is doing well at the same time as the tomatoes.

We hope you make it out for our U PICK CHERRY TOMATO DAY at the farm – exclusively for CSA members! If you can’t make it then, we will be holding a U-PICK day on the 22nd as well. Take this time to get to know the farm where your food is grown!

This week’s vegetables:
2 heads Lettuce, 2 lb Tomatoes, 3/4 lb Cherry Tomatoes, 1 Purple Top Turnip, 1 bunch Basil, 1 lb Summer Squash, 2 Bell Peppers, 1 Cantaloupe

Prepared Foods Share:
12 oz Mint Iced Tea, Salad of the Day (Asian Mix, Blueberries, Oranges, Sunflower Seeds, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber and Orange Dressing)

Fruit:
1 bag Plums, 1 bag Donut Peaches

Cheese:
Sprout Creek Farm Toussaint (A raw cows’ milk cheese with a distinctive Alpine flavor and a smooth texture, it becomes complex and peppery with age. Aged 5-7 months.)
